DU admissions: Rush for offline forms slows down

first_imgDelhi University offline form filling that started on June 2 for its four-year undergraduate programmes for academic session 2014-15 has witnessed a dip on June 6.The sale of Delhi University online admission forms on Friday however surpassed the previous year’s record. According to official data, about 240,000 (online and offline) forms have been sold by the varsity till the fifth day, reported IANS.Starting on Monday, 68,827 students have registered online and made payment for the optical mark registration (OMR) forms. Last year on the fifth day, 54,311 students had registered themselves. On the fifth day, 10,621 offline forms were received from 18 different centres across Delhi. On the first, second, third and fourth days — 32,460, 29,693, 82,454 and 13,864 offline forms — were sold respectively. The reason for the dip in sales is mostly the soaring temperature and the hassle free online form filling system which is motivating more and more students to accept the online mode over offline. The candidates should know the following points while filling up OMR sheets:   The candidates should fill the form meant for their category only. No incomplete form will be accepted.    The OMR form is printed on a special paper and the information given by the candidates will be scanned. Thus, the candidates are required to fill the forms carefully. Mutilated and damaged forms will be rejected by the scanner.    The candidates should ensure that the form is not folded, crumpled or mutilated in any manner. The candidates should not mark anything anywhere except wherever required. The black marks on the margin of the OMR form are important. The candidates should not tamper it with marker.    Only blue or black pen should be used to fill forms.    The candidate can select as many courses as they wish to by darkening the bubbles. They should ensure that the bubbles are darkened properly.    The pre-admission form or OMR sheet has two sides. After filling both the sides, the candidates are required to take the photocopy of the form on a single page i.e. both sides after which the candidates should submit their forms to any of the designated centers and get the photocopy as acknowledgement. The candidates are not required to attach the photocopies of certificates/ documents or photographs along with the OMR forms.    It is not mandatory to submit the OMR form at the centre from where it was purchased.    The candidates seeking admissions on the basis of sports or extra curricular activities may contact the respective colleges directly.    There are two separate common pre-admission forms viz General/ OBC and SC/ ST/ PWD. The candidates are advised to fill the form whichever is applicable. The admission process to DU began on June 2 and ends on June 16. DU is conducting admission for 54,000 seats in 61 colleges.advertisementlast_img read more
