Andrea LaFontaine, R-Columbus Township, was recognized today as Legislator of the Year by the Michigan Licensed Beverage Association (MLBA) at its annual conference.“I am truly honored by this award and offer my congratulations to the MLBA for celebrating their 75th anniversary this year,” LaFontaine said. “The MLBA has been promoting responsible alcohol practices for decades and I am glad to support their efforts on the legislative front.”LaFontaine said an important duty of the organization is to represent independent business owners interested in growing Michigan’s healthy business climate and tourism opportunities, which is invaluable to the comeback state.“My colleagues and I in the House Regulatory Reform Committee work hand-in-hand with organizations like the MLBA to eliminate problematic, restricting rules that sometimes prevent Michigan’s small businesses from thriving,” she said. “One of the Legislature’s main goals is to move Michigan forward, and removing needless rules gets government out of the way allowing Michiganders themselves to build brighter futures.”###last_img read more
